American Idol’s Downward Spiral

**Spoilers ahead**

The downward spiral continues. Say what you want but I don’t think Siobhan should’ve been eliminated tonight. Yeah she screams a lot and her hyena screams last night were a bit too much, but come on, there are other people there which are less exciting than her. At least her weirdness provided something to look forward to.  What happened with a season that the judges mentioned as one where girls would rule? It has become a sausage fest, and well the sausages left are not too exciting. I still wish Alex Lambert would’ve gone through to the top 12, yeah he looked scared pretty much all the time but he was very good. Now it is up to Crystal Bowersox to single-handedly beat the crap out of all those mediocre singers.

This is the order that Crystal should kick them out:
Big Mike – Let’s get rid of him before he gets hired by Ambien and puts the whole universe to sleep. Spinning piledriver, Crystal.
Aaron Kelly – What is this kid still doing here? David Archuleta was much better and I’m not even a fan of Archie. Triple uppercut, Crystal.
Casey James – He’s pretty talented but I really don’t see the appeal. Punch through his sunken chest, Crystal.
Lee Dewyze – I really like Lee’s voice but he’s starting to bore me and on stage he has the personality of a pickle. Roundhouse kick to the face, Crystal.

Pretty sure this post shows how bored I really am with this season of Idol.

By the way, I wonder if anyone will even go to see this group on tour. I went last year mainly to see Adam and Megan Joy and the year before to see David Cook. This year… Not even Crystal or Siobhan make it worth it. I guess I’ll just enjoy seeing Lady GaGa in July.

Goodbye Siobhan, hopefully we’ll see you somewhere after this.

Normally, I don’t give a sh*t about this stuff. I haven’t watched American Idol…ever until the last few months with my girlfriend. I can see the appeal. These people really are talented. For this last season, (Is it 8,9, or 10 already?), I have been right on top of the whole thing. I appreciate you informing me that Siobhan went home. During the whole Tivoed episode from last night, which we watched tonight (Wed.), I was talking on the phone with a potential blogger for a hyper-local blog I co-founded (in the name link. I can watch it anytime, but I’m glad I found out now. Have a good one.

First off, if you’re so bored. DON’T WATCH. Stop ruining it for the rest of us who don’t mind coming to terms with the fact that last year was great, this year isn’t as good, but accept variety.

Now…After all this is a singing competition.

So. You don’t think it has anything to do with the interest stories?

I mean.. They really started last season. With Danny Goke (His wife dying) and Scott, the blind guy. They had the upper hand from the get go. Look at how long Scott lasted. He was good, but… come on.

Now the entire top 5 (I believe) had one of those stories done. Big Mike and his preggers wife. Crystal, the single Mom. Lee, the paintstore worker. Aaron. His mom didn’t love him, so his aunt took him. Corey, Shirt off.. I’ll admit they’re good, but America likes a cinderella story a lot more than they like talent.

American Idol is choosing the top 10 before Hollywood week, and that’s 100% true. Go back, watch auditions, and then look at the top ten.

Haha! I guess Corey is the most memorable one… since his name is Casey. But yeah, I can see that it has always been like that and most of the contestants with stories I cannot make myself root for them. Could not stand Gokey. I’ve always seen Idol as a popularity show but this season it’s verging on crapfest in my opinion, no one makes me root for them.

Oh yea, that’s the one who reminds me of you. >:) LOL

I know, I know…It’s not just you. I’ve been reading this stuff every where. The part that bothers me the most is that I know I’m a good singer, but I don’t know that I could ever be a performer like Adam or Allison. I’ve wanted to try out for Idol, but doubt I will now, because I’m being lead to believe by viewers that it’s all about performance, and I don’t want to be the subject of bloggers saying I’m boring because all I do is sing on a singing competition… so I’ll just stick to worship teams at church and maybe one day someone in the biz will discover me. lol

Anywho..I’m sorry if I came off harsh. Didn’t mean to offend if I did.

It really isn’t all about performance, in my opinion Carrie Underwood was one of the worst performers on Idol, but she was still great. The problem that I see in this season, mainly, is that they are lacking a belief in themselves, the confidence to take a song and own it. David Cook did it , Fantasia did it, Adam did it, Carrie did it with Alone and some others.

If the contestants get overwhelmed by the show and let that hit their confidence, people will not warm up to them and will not buy their music at the end, they can win, but that’s nothing. What you want from this is for people to buy your music, make an impact.

So, if you have confidence, talent and believe in yourself, go for it, you will get the performing part later as all the other things come together.

Example, Adele, one of my favorite singers ever, I can listen to her for hours… and she just sings, no show. :)
