American Idol Goes Up, Haley Reinhart Goes Down

Last night was a mildly interesting one on American Idol. No one got any harsh criticism, not even Haley. Count me surprised. Something that is impressive is that Idol was up 23% on the ratings compared to the Top 3 show last year. Not bad for a show that, last year, many expected to die a sudden death. You have to give it to the producers, they did a good job on this season, some of the changes were refreshing and needed. If only we could get a drop of badass-ness from Steven Tyler and have him actually say something that the contestants should work on, that would be gold. I was expecting more from the rockstar of the show.

Things pretty much stayed the same, in my opinion. Scotty bored me, although I have to say, I really like his voice and still think he may be a big country star in the future. Lauren, always appears to be so nervous and all that charm that she has on interviews and such never translates to her performances. I believe she can be great if she learns to put those two together. Haley was fun. I think her performance of “What is and What Should Never Be” by Led Zepellin was great, the best of the night. She was performing the hell out of it, so much so that she stumbled going up the stairs, and just like that she got up and kept singing and swaying. I also enjoyed the chorus parts of “You Oughta Know”, the lower parts were painful, but I thoroughly enjoyed the chorus. Haley Reinhart also counts with the weekly support of Adam Lambert who seems to be a mayor fan, that won’t hurt her either, maybe he can inspire some of his fans to vote for her.

So, who will it be? Will we have a Ladies-Only finale? Can either of the girls beat Scotty? Sound off on the comments. Whatcha’ think?

Who Will Die On Glee?

Rumor has it that on tonight’s episode of Glee, aptly titled “Funeral”, one of the cast members will dies. It has been mentioned that the person dying will be someone important to the show. But we know that there are some people they won’t be able to kill, just because they are too important for ratings and such. So, let’s see if we can figure this out.

Let’s get rid of the ones we know for sure will stay on the show. Will Schuester and Sue Sylvester are not going anywhere. Personally, I wouldn’t mind if they get rid of Schuester, he bores me a little, and from the previews, it seems they are bringing Jesse St. James to assist the Glee Club, so there’s a possibility now that I think of it; he may want to pursue his music career with a new album out and all. Sue Sylvester, is one of the funniest characters of the show and one that everyone loves to hate, so yeah, she’s staying. From the kids, let’s keep it short; Rachel, Finn, Quinn, Kurt and Mercedes all sound safe to me. I really wish it isn’t Brittany, because she is my favorite character and the funniest in my opinion. I also hope it isn’t Sam, because… well, just because. But he just dyed his hair and his character has been a bit troubled lately.

Santana is a bad bitch, so she could go, but in the last few episodes she has really been a great and very funny lesbiana. Arty could be done, but the fact that he’s in a wheelchair makes me think they’ll keep him rolling a bit longer. Puck is one of the first ones that came to mind and I have no idea why, remember that last season he wasn’t around for a while? Maybe this time they get rid of him for good. But now he has a girlfriend, so that may not happen. What about her? Lauren, she’s fairly new and has been in a good amount of stories, so who knows. Mike Chang may stay because he can dance, but they have two Asians on the show so he’s at risk if they are trying to cut minorities to one character. Tina is right there with him, they have a romantic story together so either of them dying could be a good sob story. There’s also Emma, the OCD guidance counselor, she’s been kinda bland lately, but she has that story with Will that I don’t believe they will kill off any time soon.

This brings us to three characters that even though are not in as many episodes can be the ones saying hello to Jesús. Becky, Sue Sylvester’s assistant, which in my opinion is awesome, she is hilarious. I hope it’s not her. There’s also Blaine, but Glee is making too much money off him and the girls and gays love him. That leaves us with Karofsky, the closeted gay bully, who’s story has been gaining some traction lately so I doubt he will go. There’s also Sue’s sister Jean, who appeared in one or two episodes a while back, Will’s ex-wife, and Principal Higgins. Who knows.

Well, as you can see, I am clueless about who is dying on Glee… What do YOU think? Vote on the poll or leave your opinion on the comments!

The person who died was Sue Sylvester’s Sister Jane. Very emotional episode.

Listen to Lady Gaga’s New Song: Hair

We are one week away from the release of Lady Gaga’s latest album: Born This Way. So far, four of the songs have been released. Two as singles, Born This Way and Judas. And two as part of the iTunes Countdown to the album, The Edge of Glory and Hair, which was released today. After positive reviews, Edge of Glory is said to be the 3rd official single. The songs have an interesting sound, my favorite of the four is Judas. I believe it’s more like the Gaga we love, the music is great and I can identify with the lyrics. I am looking forward to the album, something tells me that it will not disappoint. I’m just hoping for more beats and less 80′s.

What do you think of the songs so far?

Lady Gaga Performs Orange Colored Sky

This weekend, Lady Gaga was performing at BBC Radio 1′s Big Weekend and along with some of her hits and new music sang this old school song. I have to say, I love when she does her crazy stuff but I love even more when she does things like this. I remember not liking Lady Gaga until I saw an acoustic performance of Poker Face, that’s when I was like: This girl is talent!

Enjoy ‘Orange Colored Sky’ by Lady Gaga!

The Voice: A Gimmick or The New American Idol?

Just a couple of weeks ago NBC started a new singing competition: The Voice. I’ve been watching and it seems like it has potential. My problem with it is knowing how far they can take the gimmick of the show, because in my opinion that is one of the strongest draws.

The show is simple. In the first auditions, a contestant starts singing while the judges, Christina Aguilera, Cee-Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton sit not being able to see the contestants. Just focusing on “the voice”. If a judge is interested in that contestant, they press a button and their chair turns around and makes them face the contestant. If no other judge presses the button, that contestant belongs to the judge that pressed. If two or more judges press, the contestant has to choose who will be their mentor. Simple.

In the second stages, which they are at now, they are dueling. The judges choose two of the contestants in their group to sing against each other. Same song, same time, different parts of the song. The judge then chooses their favorite, and narrows down the group.

Very soon, the gimmicky part will end, when America will be determining the winner by voting. It’s an interesting show and has been doing fairly well on the ratings, not as well as American Idol, but that’s understandable, Idol has been on the air for 10 years now.

I have some questions:

Who, of American Idol’s past contestants, could’ve been a frontrunner on The Voice?

What do you think about The Voice? Will it take over Idol?

Are You Watching The Voice?
