Today I Say Goodbye to Heroes

Well, it was bound to happen. I’ve been following the TV show Heroes since season 1 and loved it. Season 2 was a quick downfall and sadly it hasn’t recovered. I keep watching glimpses of what could be good stories but becoming desperate they keep changing the storylines, apparently the writers have ADD. Season 1 had a clear focus:

Save the cheerleader, save the world.

Each one of the characters had a clear purpose and worked towards it, by season two it all fell apart. This show is a clear example of the damage that a writers strike can make. People still watch it, a lot less, but they still do, especially online. But when something like this happens I would prefer that the show be cancelled. Most of the people that, as me, still watch it are just waiting for something to happen and the show to become awesome once again. I personally thought that this would happen when Robert Knepper was added to the cast, sadly it wasn’t. I loved Knepper as villain Theodore Bagwell (T-Bag) on Prison Break, but here his full potential is not seen. The show now is just full of clichés,  girl on girl bi-curious college action for example, and blatant promotion of Sprint cellphones. Ugh.

What will I miss? Sylar. Sylar is awesome and has been one of the main reasons why I have lasted all these crappy seasons. Zachary Quinto did such a good job as the emotionally troubled Psycho that it made Sylar my favorite character of the show.

I am starting school again next week, so I am getting rid of shows that I have been following for years but have become stale with poor writing and desperate moves to gain ratings that just fall short.

Goodbye Heroes.

Yes, yes, yes and yes. I agree with all of the above. It is sad. Season One was a symphony of perfection. Since then, I have been watching out of a sense of obligation. I believe that it will end its run soon, so I will probably continue to watch, skipping all of the ridiculous scenes with Hiro, Ando and that deaf musician. It's sad.

    You've inspired me.
I'm going to finally give it up as well. I figure that if something good finally does happen again, we'll hear about it and can just get the DVDs.
I just don't have time to keep watching and hoping.
I will miss Sylar most too, but I can just look at pictures of him and survive ;-)
