Top American Idol Performances

Some people say that American Idol is a Talent Show, others call it a Singing Competition and some go as far as to call it just a Popularity Contest. But through its 8 Seasons there have been some contestants that have made some really memorable performances. There are contestants that have blown away the audiences through amazing renditions of known songs or just bringing to a new light an obscure song. So, without any more letters let the music speak for itself.

Season 1: Tamyra Gray – A Fool In Love (4th Place)

Season 2: Clay Aiken – Solitaire (2nd Place)

Season 3: Fantasia Barrino – Summertime (1st Place)

Season 3: Jennifer Hudson – Weekend in New England (7th Place)

Season 3: Latoya London – All By Myself (3rd Place)

Season 7: David Cook – Always be My Baby (1st Place)

Season 7: David Cook – The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face

(Too many good performances to choose from)

Season 7: David Archuleta – Imagine (2nd Place)

(I’m not his biggest fan but he has a good voice)

Wow, it’s been awhile since I’ve revisited Adam Lambert’s original Mad World performance, and it’s still breathtaking. Part of it is the memory — the shock of my DVR running out, the mad scramble for the remote hoping that it hadn’t flipped to another channel during the 15 minutes I lagged behind the broadcast, my relief when I discovered I was for some unknown reason DVRing Fringe and I hadn’t missed Adam.

And then … the moody blue lighting coming from his crotch that made me giggle, but was soon forgotten as that otherworldly vocal filled with emotion and angst made my jaw drop. That tremble on the syllables of “nervous” and the brief powered up volume and as Adam stood, then immediately took it back down softly again as you strained to hear. That final note that was a bit off for just a second, but was immediately recognized and corrected and somehow fit perfectly. And his happy face as he came out of performance mode, hearing the crowd’s powerful reaction — and then Simon’s standing ovation.

Thanks for the reminder of this beautiful, epic moment!

That’s funny, I tried to find the ones you mentioned. Katharines, basically to have another one for that season and David Cook’s because it was one of my favorites. I couldn’t find good videos of them though.
